Welcome to the EFCLIN website. The main part of this website is in English. But it is a pleasure to give you some basic information about EFCLIN in your own languages on these pages. The European Federation of the Contact Lens Industry is a global platform for manufacturers and suppliers of contact lenses and IOLs. EFCLIN’s mission statement is: “To expand the most prominent exhibition and meeting place for the global contact lens and IOL industry, initiate education and maintain the highest level of professional services and relevant information.” EFCLIN has now become the most important world wide organization for the industry.

Congress and Exhibition EFCLIN organizes an annual Congress and Exhibition in October. Presentations at the congress are mainly in English. At the Exhibition, there are translators available for communicating with the exhibitors. The most important suppliers to the contact lens and IOL industries exhibit their newest products and services during the EFCLIN meeting. Many products have been introduced during EFCLIN Congresses that have proven to be very influential in the development of the contact lens and IOL industry. Usually there are several machine manufacturers with their newest equipment in operation. This offers a unique opportunity to see the latest machines in operation and to meet the suppliers personally. Next to important presentations and product introductions, the event offers a platform to meet people from all over the world. One of the participants once said: “How can you meet over 200 people from the industry and not learn anything?” And that is exactly what the Congress offers: “Learning, meeting and experiencing.”

Education EFCLIN offers a program for educating lab technicians. During the annual Congress, a special course for lab technicians is offered. Six intensive courses on many practical items are taught. The technician’ course is held on a Saturday, to allow technicians to participate without loosing valuable production time. There are several other initiatives for educational programs. Contact the EFCLIN secretariat for more information. Assistance in technical and other matters A regular electronic EFCLIN News Flash (ENF) updates members on many issues pertaining to the industry. Members’ questions are published in the ENF or if urgent, sent by separate e-mail to all members. In the many years this service has been running, EFCLIN members have always been able to come up with valuable answers within days. This service is a frequently used and highly appreciated by the members.

Contacts The members of EFCLIN have a network that is extremely valuable. Many members find important business partners from the EFCLIN network which is one of the goals of EFCLIN: “Assisting in finding the right partners.” Mutual programs If developments require action, EFCLIN forms a working group with specialists on the subject. With world wide contacts, EFCLIN is able to get the right people for these working groups. The members benefit greatly from these working groups’ findings. While some of these are very long term projects. the findings enable the average manufacturer or supplier to benefit from the results taking into consideration that many would not have the resources to do so individually. ISO and CE EFCLIN provides a special service for keeping members updated on all developments and changes in ISO standards and CE regulations. All developments are published in the members section of the website, which is always available to all members at any time.

EFCLIN needs the support of the industry The organization is well supported by the members, but there are many new plans and activities that are directly beneficial to the industry that need completion. These activities can only be executed if more manufacturers and suppliers support EFCLIN. The annual subscription to become a member is not very costly and is related to the size of the company. All sizes of companies are able to become EFCLIN members and benefit from the many advantages and services of the membership.
