Armin Duddek – President
A qualified optician since 1986 Armin has been practising as a contact lens specialist in Zurich since 1993. Owner of contact lens company Prolens AG. Armin has been president of the SBAO since 2001 and the Swiss delegate for ECOO since 2003 as well as being a former ECOO president. In 2012 Armin received the VDCO Optometry Award. He brings considerable experience to the EFCLIN Presidency. Email

Alan Bennett – Secretary

Alan is the Senior Quality Assurance Project Manager for Coopervision Speciality Eye Care. A seasoned quality professional with a genuine passion for the speciality contact lens industry, Alan’s background also includes Industrial Engineering and Software Engineering. Alan’s industry involvement also extends to working with EUROMCONTACT as an expert on two of the MDCG working groups, he also serves as the Chairman on the UK’s ACLM Technical Working Group, and is also a member of the BSI ISO Standards Technical Committee for Contact Lens and Contact Lens Care standards. Alan was elected to the EFCLIN board in 2021. Email |
Gareth Browne – Board Member
| Gareth is the Technical and Quality Control Manager at Contamac – the world’s largest manufacturer of contact and intraocular lens materials, and the leading innovator of specialist polymers and biocompatible materials for medical applications. His 30+ years of experience ranges from commercial contact lens manufacturing to biocompatible polymer development. Gareth is heavily involved in the development of new contact lens and IOL materials, as well as providing support to labs from all over the world who are experiencing manufacturing challenges. Dr. Johannes Pfund – Board Member

Hannes holds a PhD in physics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. His scientific work dealt with Shack-Hartmann sensing, testing aspheric optics and interferometry. He is co-founder and president of Optocraft GmbH, a metrology company serving the markets ophthalmology, precision optics, laser and astronomy.

Dr. William Lee – Treasurer

William is the VP of R&D and Regulatory Affairs at AST Products, Inc. (U.S.A.) and the President of ICARES Medicus, Inc. (Taiwan). As an engineer, executive and entrepreneur, he has over 30 years of experience in surface treatment technology, and product design and development. He is the sole inventor of the LubriMATRIXTM surface treatment technology that has been applied onto more than 5 million IOL injectors annually, and was awarded the 2020 Heroes of Chemistry Award by the American Chemical Society (ACS) for this achievement. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biotechnology, B.Eng. and M.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Tokyo, Japan. He is fluent in 7 languages including English, Japanese, Mandarin and Malay, and a serial calligraphy awardee in Japan.

Marc Botticella – Board Member

Marc has extensive sales, brand marketing, customer marketing and professional affairs experience while working at CIBA Vision, Alcon, Bausch + Lomb Canada and now with the Bausch + Lomb Specialty Vision Products division internationally. While serving in these roles he had worked with numerous local, regional and national trade industry associations, as well as teaching institutions to help educate and elevate the industry as a whole.
