With a full program of Contact Lens related lectures, a EFCLIN-Forum, lectures and workshops about  Medical Device Regulations MDR and again a high quality IOL related program, EFCLIN Delegates are going to be busy! Take a look at the preliminary program here.

With pleasure we like to inform you that registration for 49th EFCLIN Congress & Exhibition is now open. Please click here to register. Early Birds booking will be accepted until 20th February 2023 – don’t miss the chance!

Following the overwhelming success of the exhibition at last years congress in Sitges, demand for space at the 2023 event is high. To make things even more difficult the overall available exhibit space is not bigger than that of Sitges. Therefore the EFCLIN Secretariat are having to handle applications for booth space on a strictly “first come- first served” basis. Want to give yourself the best chance of getting a booth space? Waste no time and register!

EFCLIN Congress & Exhibition Sitges 2022– Not being there would have been a mistake

48th EFCLIN Congress and Exhibition could welcome nearly 300 visitors in Sitges/ Barcelona the 28th – 30th April 2022. Particularly much space was given to the regulatory issues that continue to preoccupy the entire industry. Innovations in contact lens and IOL design, new technologies in manufacturing and how to properly evaluate software were other strong lecture topics.  “The EFCLIN community is more alive than ever,” says President Armin Duddek.

A current and attractive lecture programme, a Manufacturers’ Forum and an interesting industrial exhibition attracted 289 visitors from 31 countries to Sitges. Visitors were able to find out about materials for contact lenses and intraocular lenses (IOL), manufacturing machines, measuring instruments, diamond tools, contact lenses and IOL innovations as well as services.

“Not being there would have been a mistake”, mentioned a visitor from Australia. With delegates arriving from all over the world the 48th EFCLIN Congress & Exhibition proved once again that it is “the place to be” for all things Contact Lens and IOL.

The wonderful city of Sitges in Spain played host to this year’s event and activity centered around the very well-appointed Meliã Sitges Hotel.

Many of the speakers in the strong and very varied lecture program echoed the congress theme of «A World of Opportunities 2022», and the exhibitors taking a chance to highlight their latest product innovations further supported this.

The General Annual Meeting re-elected Gareth Browne from Contamac as Board member for another term of service.

Before the congress was wound up the EFCLIN Board announced that the 2023 event, the 49th EFCLIN Congress & Exhibition would take place from the 20th – 22nd  April 2023 in Budapest, Hungary.

EUROMCONTACT 2021 market data report on sales of contact lenses and lens care products is now available.

Brussels, 15th March 2022

EUROMCONTACT releases the 2021 market data report on sales of contact lenses and lens care products.
The EUROMCONTACT statistics report for 2021 is now available. The statistics report covers 34 countries in 2021, in comparison to 32 countries reported in 2020.
Of the 21.7 million wearers in the 34 countries covered, 56% of them use daily disposable, 43.9% weekly/bi-weekly and monthly replacement lenses, and 0.07% conventional soft lenses.
Total sales in 2021 reached 1,991 million euros – a growth of 14.3% compared to 2020, a year that was atypical due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With a total of 13.6% of 15-64 year olds wearing contact lenses, Denmark (DK) has the greatest penetration, ahead of Sweden (SE) and Norway (NO) (both 12.1%). Lowest among the eleven is Germany (DE) (4.2%) and Spain (ES) (4.3%).
Silicone Hydrogels (SiHy) have an 86.1% value share in the weekly/bi-weekly and monthly segment (across all 34 countries / 32 clusters) and range from 79.3% (IT) up to 95.2% (NO) in the reported eleven countries.
The total lens care market declined to € 198 million for all 34 countries / 32 clusters. This trend reflects the growth of daily disposables where no lens care products are needed.
Since 2003, EUROMCONTACT has provided the framework for statistics on market data and analysis covering 34 countries (in 2021) based on a collection and compilation of data using an independent company.
A full report is available on the EUROMCONTACT website: www.euromcontact.eu.
